The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, Nassau County Fire/Rescue Department and Micah’s Place conducted the NCSO Safe Kids Academy on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Wildlight Elementary School.
This three hour academy provided practical instruction to children ages 5 through 8 on Stranger Awareness, Dialing 911, Internet Safety, Home Safety, Anti Bullying and Fire Safety. The academy is provided free by the sheriff’s office and is conducted each summer.
Children received hands on practical experience in the six major topics of instruction, which was taught by Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Communications Officers and Explorers, NCFR personnel, and counselors for Micah’s Place. Children also learned self-defense techniques, practiced dialing “911″ where the child communicates with a 911 operator, learned about Stranger Awareness, Internet safety, Anti Bullying and participated in a Fire Safety drill.
At the completion of the class the children graduated with a certificate.
