Theft Arrest

On Sunday, January 26, 2020, NCSO was called to Hibbett Sports located at 464721 SR-200 in Yulee in reference to a shoplifting and battery incident.  A store employee stated that two males and two females were attempting to leave the store without paying for merchandise and when confronted the employee was pushed out of their way and entered a silver colored Dodge van.  The vehicle left the area traveling westbound on SR-200.

An NCSO deputy was in the area of SR-200 and Felmor Road and observed the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.  The vehicle failed to stop and turned north on Felmor Road before turning west onto Pages Dairy Road.  Other deputies were at the intersection of US-17 and Pages Dairy Road waiting to intercept the vehicle.  The vehicle suddenly turned right in an attempt to travel onto Goodbread Road, but the driver lost control and traveled off the road and slid into a tree.  All four occupants of the vehicle jumped out in an attempt to flee, but were all captured by the deputies.

An inventory of the suspect vehicle revealed multiple clothing items on the floorboard with the purchasing label still attached.  Hibbett Sports employees identified all the clothing and items that were stolen from the store, which amounted to $3,214.98.
