Sheriff’s Office Warns of Increase in Construction Burglaries
Yulee, Fla. – Sheriff Bill Leeper is pleased to report that construction is back underway in Nassau County. New construction in the county offers our residents many job opportunities, new places to live, and it brings new businesses to our community. New construction also brings one other thing – criminals.
During the last several months, several construction sites throughout the county have been burglarized. The thieves are taking construction equipment, appliances, and anything of value.
Deputies are asking citizens to report any and all suspicious activity at or near construction sites (or at any location). If you see or hear something that you feel is out of the ordinary, notify law enforcement as soon as possible.
Please be alert to things such as:
- Construction crews (or what appears to be) working late at night or unusually early in the morning.
- Someone LEAVING a construction site with appliances or equipment.
- Construction vehicles (or any vehicle) that is uncommon to the particular construction site.
Please call the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office at 904-225-0331 to report any suspicious activity or call 9-1-1 for emergencies.
