The NCSO utilizes certain county inmates who are in the county jail and are under sentence upon conviction for a crime to work on certain projects. Included in the work program are repairs of public roads, bridges, and other public work related issues within the county. Additionally, these inmates may be utilized on other projects where the Sheriff or Board of County Commissioners could otherwise lawfully expend public funds in which; the Sheriff determines to be necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the county.
The Inmate Work crew shall not work over 10 hours per day.
