Yulee, Fla. – Sheriff Bill Leeper has reinstated the motorcycle division within the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office after a two year hiatus and made history as well.
The four Harley-Davidson motorcycles sat idle in a storage shed for the past two years just gathering dust when Sheriff Leeper decided to bring them back on the road. The bikes will be utilized part-time on patrol, at special events and during parades. Deputies trained for two weeks at the North Florida Law Enforcement Training Center in Jacksonville with the Florida Highway Patrol before being allowed to work on the motorcycles.
After completing the training, Deputy Robin Patterson becomes the first ever female motor officer for the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
