New Nassau County Sheriff’s Office To Begin Construction
Yulee, Fla. – Nassau County officials will hold a ground breaking ceremony for the new Nassau County Sheriff’s Administration Building on Monday, December 22nd at 4:00 p.m. The ceremony will be conducted at the vacant lot across from the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center, which is located at 76212 Nicholas Cutinha Road within the Robert M. Foster Judicial Complex in Yulee.
The new Sheriff’s Office will replace the decrepit old jail and collection of ten portable trailers, which has been rife with leaks and mold, along Florida A1A where deputies currently conduct their operations. “This has been needed for several years and finally it will become a reality” said Sheriff Bill Leeper. “When complete the new building will serve the law enforcement needs of our county for decades to come.”
Nassau County Board of County Commissioners, Nassau County Staff, ACON Construction managers, and sheriff’s office personnel will put shovels in the ground to signify construction has officially begun. “NCSO employees will eventually have a modern-day facility that is safe, secure and can house everyone under one roof” Leeper added. “Being in the Judicial Complex along with the Courthouse, Jail, and Emergency Operations Center will be more convenient for the public as well as our employees.”
Construction is scheduled to be complete in the spring of 2016.
