Bryceville burglary suspect captured in Missouri

Yulee, Fla. – The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office received several cases (8) of residential burglaries in the Bryceville area between Sunday, August 16th and Friday, August 21st while residents were away from their home during the day.  Items stolen were televisions, other electronics, cash, jewelry, and firearms.

NCSO Deputies and Detectives searched relentlessly every day for any leads on the suspect(s).  Several witnesses provided tips, such as descriptions of suspicious vehicles and people in the area.  Based on intelligence developed from this investigation, deputies identified Chris Morgan, 46, from Jacksonville as a suspect in the burglaries and issued a warrant for his arrest.  Morgan also had active warrants for burglary and dealing in stolen property in Duval and Clay counties.

Morgan had recently been released from the Department of Corrections in 2014 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  He has an extensive history of burglary, narcotics and fleeing from law enforcement officers.

NCSO Detectives worked with other law enforcement agencies, as well as the U.S. Marshall’s Office to locate the suspect.  Acting on a tip, the suspect was located in Perryville, Missouri and picked up by the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force on October 20, 2015.  The suspect is in the process of being extradited back to Nassau County to face charges.
