The Nassau County Sheriff's Office believes the more information deputies have when they respond to calls for service, the better they are able to meet our citizen’s needs.
The Autism Decal program is a way to alert emergency responders there could potentially be a person with autism in a home or vehicle. NCSO deputies receive training related to the unique characteristics, behaviors, and needs of people with autism. When a deputy notices the sticker prior to an interaction, they will know that children and adults with autism typically have difficulties with verbal and non-verbal communication and social interaction. With this knowledge, deputies will be better able to communicate and interact with our citizens. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office is providing these decals FREE of charge to anyone in Nassau County who wishes to place them near the front door of their home or in the rear window of their vehicle to alert law enforcement officers that there is an occupant with autism.
