Inmate Processing Information
When an individual is arrested in Nassau County, he/she is brought to the booking desk of the Nassau County Jail for processing. The individual’s processing (property inventory, booking, medical screening, and cell assignment) must be completed prior to being considered for release or visitation. Intake processing and identification clearance will be completed as soon as possible.
When an inmate has been cleared for release, the inmate will be taken to the booking desk and processed (property inventory, monies, bonds, etc.) for release as quickly as possible. Release times vary.
BOND and PURGE INFORMATION
To place a cash bond you must bring the full amount of the bond to the public reception area of the Jail. The bond must be paid by certified or cashier’s check (drawn on a local bank and subject to verification), or money order made payable to the Nassau County Clerk. We do not accept cash or credit cards. NOTE: A bonding agency may post a surety bond in lieu of a cash bond.
To initiate a surety bond, a bonding agency must be contacted. Bail bond agencies are listed in the phone book. Deputies are prohibited from giving advice on selection of bonding agencies. The bonding agency will make the arrangements to have the individual released.
If an individual is incarcerated due to a civil charge, such as a Writ of Attachment, the judge may have set a purge amount. The purge must be paid to be released. The purge amount may be paid at the public reception area of the Jail. The purge must be paid by certified or cashier’s check (drawn on a local bank and subject to verification), or by money order made payable to the Office of the Sheriff.
