Crime Scene Unit
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit (CSU) is assigned to the Investigations Division and is supervised by a sergeant. The members of the unit are responsible for the collection and processing of physical evidence, mapping and diagramming of crime scenes and testifying on their observations in criminal proceedings.
The detectives assigned to the CSU utilize state of the art tools and training to process scenes as directed by the patrol and investigations divisions. The detectives are provided with extensive training in the field of evidence location, evidence collection and evidence processing. Members of CSU are also affiliated with several state, national and international evidence collection organizations for the purpose of enhancing their abilities.
