Citizen’s Advisory Team

The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office realizes that citizen involvement in crime prevention is essential.

CAT demonstrates a partnership between law enforcement and the community. They illustrate NCSO commitment to community policing. CAT’S serve as information exchanges between citizens and the police. Regularly scheduled meetings give citizens an opportunity to communicate directly with command staff and police officers on issues of importance to their communities.

The five geographical areas that will have Sheriff’s CAT teams are: Hilliard, Callahan, Bryceville, Yulee, and Amelia Island.

Each team will have an elected chair-person to manage the program.  The NCSO CAT Coordinator works actively with the teams, but will not chair the meetings.  The teams will meet once a month to discuss issues pertaining to their area of the county and to plan solutions with the Sheriff’s Office staff.  Topics of concern may include, but are not limited to, drug problems, traffic problems, home security, and community education.

Sheriff Bill Leeper and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office employees are dedicated to continuing to make Nassau County a safe desirable place to live, work and raise a family.

If you are interested in joining the CAT team in your area, please contact CAT Coordinator Harry Fouraker at hfouraker@nassauso.com or call (904) 548-4089 for Callahan, Hilliard or Bryceville or CAT Coordinator Larry Boatwright at lboatwright@nassauso.com or call (904) 548-4027 for Yulee or Amelia Island.
